Crete
Greece
One of our favorite islands to visit. The largest island of Greece that offers tons of adventure, food, and amazing people. Crete culture is very proud and very fun. Every meal ends with a glass of raki and dessert. A tradition that we thoroughly enjoyed during our time there.
Tips
-
Renting a car is very much recomended to explore some of Crete’s beautiful beaches and varying towns.
Please be aware that the roads can be very narrow and very bumpy.
-
When researching Crete, there are a multitude of options as to where to stay or where to choose your home-base. Options include: Heraklion, Chania, and Rethymo.
Some travelers plan their trips to include stays all across Crete as well. We chose to stay in Chania, and could not be happier with our choice. The historic town has tons to offer and is centrally located to begin your day-trips from.
-
Late Spring to Early Fall!
We had a great time during our trip in mid-September. The crowds are calmer and the weather is still beautiful.
-
Beach attire and casual dresses/ shorts for dinner.
When visiting a few of Crete’s remote beaches, it is best to bring sneakers to be have a comfortable walk from the car to the sand.
