Santorini

Greece

Home to the beautiful blue domes and breathtaking views of the calderea. Santorini has two main towns on opposite sides of the island: Fira and Oia. There is no place like Santorini, with its volcanic features and stunning sunsets. It is definitely not a place to miss!

Tips

  • Taxis on the island are limited and cost a small fortune. Schedule your hotel transfer to and from the airport/ port beforehand.

There is a lot to explore in Santorini, renting a mode of transportation is cost-effective and fun! Our hotel highly-suggested for us to rent a car instead of a ATV for safety, and I definitely agree! Though ATVs are fun, cars provide air conditioning and safety from the elements/ other drivers.

  • It is best to visit this beautiful island between late March to early June, and early September to late October. It allows one to enjoy the beautiful Greek weather without the ever-growing crowds flocking to Greece for their summer holiday.

Keep in mind, if you choose to visit outside of high-season, a lot of restaurants and hotels are closed between November and (possibly until) April.

  • Unfortunately Santorini is definitely for lovers, girlfriends, and/ or exploring by yourself or with friends.

A lot of hotels have a minimum age requirement to stay. And within good reason, the steep steps and uneven streets of Santorini are not exactly child-friendly.

  • Light and loose clothing!

It is HOT. Fun dresses and casual button-up, collared shirts for men. Also please be friendly to your feet and bring flat/ comfortable shoes.
