Attractions

  • Would highly recommend to book tickets beforehand to ensure a time slot. Also, to decrease chances of long lines and large crowds reviewers say to book tickets for the first 9am slot in the AM and arrive 30 minutes beforehand. Tickets can easily be purchased online before your trip or you can utilize the Paris Museum Pass.

  • A very short walk from the Louvre. Musée de l'Orangerie is home to the stunning series of Claude Monet's water lily paintings, Les Nymphéas.

Address: Jardin Tuileries, 75001 Paris, France

  • Situated along the Seine. The beautiful Musee d’Orsay houses one of the largest collections of artwork in Europe. Their collection of impressionist and post-impressionist artists include: Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Paul Gauguin, and Vincent Van Gogh.

Address: 1 Rue de la Légion d'Honneur, 75007 Paris, France

  • A great day trip to visit the iconic Mont Saint Michel (MSM). It is about a 14 hour day trip that requires a bit of pre-planing for logistics.

Best way to get to MSM:

    - Hotel to Gare Montparnasse: cab

    - Gare Montparnasse to Rennes: book a TGV Train online. We booked a Ouigo route 38-45€ per person/ each way. ~ 2 hours each way (would recommend booking on the 2nd floor to enjoy the view).

    - Rennes bus to MSM-  To reach the bus station from the Rennes train station, take the “Sortie Nord” (north exit), turn right and follow the signs towards the “Gare Routière” (bus station) which is located behind the tourist center. One could purchase the ticket in from bus station/ online/ from the bus driver- RT 25€. Can also confirm the bus schedule via the website or with the bus driver.

    - Keolis Bus: (also called Ligne Routiere Regionale) Rennes to MSM @ 9:45 (1hr 10min)

    - Keolis Bus: MSM to Rennes @ 16:00 (bus will pick you up where they drop you off)

You can either walk to MSM from the bus stop (~1.5 mile/ 25 minute walk) or take the complimentary shuttle (beware of long lines so plan accordingly to make your return bus).

Definitely purchase Abbey tickets ahead of time so you do not need to wait in the long line previous to entering (11€ each).

    - Rennes to Gare Montparnasse: TGV Train @ 5:52- 8pm

La Mère Poulard, established in 1888 and is iconic of the fluffy omelets and buttery cookies. The line can be a bit long, and other restaurants also serve the notorious Normandy omelet. But their cookies can be purchased from most establishments.

The steps to the abbey can be a bit steep, so please be prepared with proper walking shoes. Also, keep an eye out for - On the Grande Rue on the way up to the Abbey, keep an eye out for Saint-Pierre, surrounded by a cemetery. One can pop in to see the silver statue that was placed in honor of Saint Michel.

Please be aware that all buses leave on time and do not have toilets on board. The tourist center is a great place to stop when arriving and prior to leaving.

  • We planned our whole Paris trip on being able to attend the beautiful Royal Serenade that takes place at Versailles. Held on almost every Saturday during the summer, it is a must-see! Bring snacks, a jacket, and comfortable shoes to enjoy your time on the property.

Best way to get to Versailles it to take the RER C train. It will take you to the Chateau River Gauche train station. The train ride is 60-90 minutes long and comes every 15 minutes.

Prior to leaving the train station, confirm the last train time! The train station is about a 10 minute walk to the palace. There are several restaurants once can stop at prior to entering as well.

    - Royal Serenade: Starts @ 16:30

    - Night Fountain Show: @ 8:30- 11:05 pm

Tickets can be purchased in advance. One thing to note, if you arrive early and would like to tour the palace on your own time, separate tickets are required to be purchased.

I would recommend arriving around 1pm/ 2pm to enjoy the palace at your leisure. Then grabbing a bite in town prior to the Royal Serenade beginning at 4:30 (palace shuts down at 4pm to the public to prepare).
