San Sebastian, is located in the Basque Country of Spain. It has a world-renowned culinary scene, stunning beaches, and vibrant cultural offerings. Indulge in Michelin-starred dining and pintxos bars, relax on La Concha Beach, and explore the city's rich history and arts scene. Great city to have the best of both worlds: food+ beach!

Tips

  • The best way to get around San Sebastian is on foot, as the city is relatively small and most attractions are within walking distance. If you need to travel further, you can take public transportation, such as buses or taxis, which are readily available throughout the city.

Parking can be difficult. We picked up our rental car on our way out of the city to avoid having to find parking.

  • The best time to visit San Sebastian is during the summer months of June to September, when the weather is warm and sunny, and the beaches and outdoor attractions are at their best. However, this is also peak tourist season, so crowds are to be expected.

We visited in the middle of March. Though it was a little chilly, and some spots are only opened seasonally, we enjoyed our time exploring.

  • When packing for a trip to San Sebastian, be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes. Pack lightweight and breathable clothing for the warm summer months, and a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.

  • To fully explore San Sebastian and its surrounding areas, it's recommended to stay for at least 3-4 days.
